Inspired by Vintage Bolivian Frazadas, our Khadi desert blankets are hand-spun, hand-woven cloths from India through fair trade co-ops, composed of a 90% wool weft and 10% cotton warp. Wool and cotton are first spun into yarn on a charkha, a spinning wheel, and then hand-dyed exclusively for Garza Marfa. The yarn is then woven on a handloom to produce our blankets designed by us in Marfa, Texas.
Khadi has long been known for its ability to keep the wearer warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The inherent variances of the fabric reflect the beauty of the involved, handwoven Khadi process. It’s lightweight and super soft and works great on a bed, draped over a chair, as a travel blanket or worn as a wrap.
