Saltillo serapes can date from the 18th century and are considered one of the great textile traditions of the world. During the early part of the 20th century, serapes were created on a foot loom, and each one unique depending on the weaver and the client's wishes. A symbol of prestige, they were draped on upon one's shoulder as a fine decorative accessory.
These serapes were made in the early 20th century and therefore will show minor signs of age. We make sure to provide images of any major indications of wear and tear. We feel that this is what gives these pieces character and what adds to the soul of the space it ends up inhabiting.
